Skechers Tone Ups: Burn Calories at the Beach

Fitness Shoes, Walking Shoes - By Tina Foster on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 - 01:02

Skechers Tone Ups are very similar in concept to Skechers Shape Ups.  Like their sneaker counterparts, the sandals are designed to help you burn calories, tone your muscles and improve your posture – just from everyday wear.  Tone Ups also happen to be a collection of very cute sandals that are perfect for summer wear so you don’t miss a step from your Shape Ups.  My personal favorite for this season is the “Shadow Box.”  This is a flip-flop style sandal with all of the fitness benefits - and sequins!  While I love the look of them, check out the benefits that go along with every pair of Tone Ups.

Easy to Find

Tone Ups have become increasingly popular sandals because they offer more than just fashionable, practical beach footwear.  Because of this, they are pretty easy to find.  However, I would not get them just anywhere.  I get mine from Skechers.com because I know that I am getting the best prices and selection (you'll also save $10 on any purchase of $50+).  You also should beware of cheap knock-offs.

Easy to Wear

With the surge in fitness shoes, it is important to know that they are not all alike.  Sketchers Tone Ups are not just hype.  Wearing them can actually impact your body and health.

Fact # 1 – Skechers Tone Ups Work!

Designed to simulate walking with bare feet (without the scrapes!), Tone Ups’ secret is in the sole of the shoe.  The insole is soft, and the outer sole is “a multi-layered pivot sole.”  This combo forces the wearer to worker harder when walking – like walking on sand at the beach.  The extra challenge is comfortable but still challenging. Your core muscles are worked as well as your legs.  Look the proven health benefits:

  • Improved Posture
  • Better Circulation
  • Decreased Back Pain
  • More Calories Burned
  • A Low Impact Workout
  • Improved Muscle Tone
  • Improved Muscle Strength
  • Increased Endurance

Fact # 2 – There are no tricks to getting the benefits of Skechers Tone Ups

Unlike other fitness shoes, Tone Ups require no unique exercises or activity to aid and improve your body.  This is very convenient for those of us who can’t make it to the gym or set aside time during the day.  Plus, we all already know how to walk!

Fact # 3 – Skechers Tone Ups are stylish

A lot of fitness shoes are unattractive.  Not Skechers Tone Ups!  They are a fashionable and versatile addition to any casual summer wear.  And they come in a surprisingly large array of colors and styles.

  • The Electric Slide is a comfortable slide.
  • Moonrock, Shadow Box, Shoe Bunny, and strength Train are all thong sandals.
  • Meow, Glam Girl, and Glam Punk all offer an edgier look.
  • The Blast Out is a great sandal for an earthy look with brown leather and buckles.

Easy to Recognize

I am never one to blindly follow a brand because they are popular, trendy, or endorsed.  I always research my shoes before I purchase them because I know what I like.  That said, knowing that Tone Ups come from a reputable company like Skechers is great.  I know the product is going to be well-made and durable.  Skechers.com carries all the hard to find Skechers shoes, including Tone Ups and Shape Ups.  Final verdict: A premium fitness sandal from a premium company.

I bought the shape up sneakers thee years ago. They are so awesome.I wear them during cold weather.I wear them most everywhere. They help me with balance in addition to keeping leg muscles in shape. I was thrilled to find tone up sandals(flip flops). I have 3 pair. One pair is classy enough to wear with most any outfit. It looks like a dressy sandal. I have very sensative feet but all these have worked great for me. I definitely recommend trying them.

I purchased the Skechers Tone Ups and wore them all day. My legs were fine and they were very comfortable to walk in. However, I have two red marks on the top of my foot, where the two bands meet. The double stitched fabric has caused a bruise. I can't put the shoes back on it hurts that much! I'm trying to let the bruise heal again before attempting to wear them. You wouldn't notice this discomfort when trying them on, just after wearing them all day!!!

I bought my first pair of Shape Ups two years ago, watched the video and did as suggested, wear them a little while per day until you build yourself up and learn how to walk in them. Since then I have not wore any other brand of tennis shoes. They do build your legs, calves and buttocks up. I even lost weight in my abdomen. I have three pairs of Shape Ups, counting my original pair. When summer started I began wearing my sandals, it is too hot for tennis shoes. I bought a pair of Tone Ups the other day and wore them all day today and yes they do work your legs out. I haven't wore my Shape Ups since the 1st of May so my legs haven't been working out since then and I can tell in these Tone Ups. They are well worth the money. I do advise anyone that is not use to working out or wearing exercise shoes to go easy wearing these types of footwear until you build yourself up to them. A few hours per day for a week should do it.

I bought a pair of tone ups and wore them daily for 30 days. I can not wear them any more. My feet started rolling inward and my feet and ankles were painful. I now have to go buy another pair of sneakers after I just spent $90.00 a month ago ... very disappointed !

The reaction is not the same for everyone. I found Shape-ups in a velcro strapped sandal version (Shape-ups is printed on the strap; not Tone-ups). Shopped in them most of the next day. The cushioned soles were very comfy. I haven't felt any soreness from the toning properties. For the record, I have fairly strong calves, but am in my 50's and significantly overweight -- definitely not the athletic type. I have a low arch and the shoe provided more support in that area than I was used to which resulted in a little pain in the arch, but I was able to work through that in a couple of days. I'm definitely considering a pair of work out shoes.

So I've been wearing the Skechers Shape-Ups since September 2010. I tried two cheaper brands before and then went for the Skechers... LOVE THEM. We went to Las Vegas and I purchased the Tone-Ups Sandals. I wore them from morning until midnight daily and LOVED THEM! No sore feet at all, and you do a lot of walking in Vegas!

I have had shape-up and now got the tone-up shoes; I can tell you this that it's going to hurt if you wear them all day. They come right out in the video and even the manual tells you not to wear them for more than 30mins your first day and then work your way up by each day ect. Next time read the information before you put them on. They are fitness equipment not normal shoes you wear day in and day out.

I agree with you that the saleslady should have explained it to you beforehand. It takes a while to get used to and I would never have worn them straight away all day. It is like never been to the gym and all of a sudden, you do a 24hr gym stint, you would be very sore. I would try and wear them again but ease into it because they do really work, believe me.

I bought a pair of Tone-ups the first of the month and put them on the rest of the day. The next day, my legs were tight and I could feel the muscles being worked in a different way. I wear them every other day now and really feel the benefits. I totally recommend them

Lots of people become overly enthusiastic when they first try on these types of shoes. I'm not sure about Tone Ups, but both Shape Ups and MBTs come with an instructional video (which first-time users should watch). These types of shoes are considered "fitness equipment." And when starting a fitness regimen it is important to start slow.

If you go into a gym the first time, and workout all day, you are going to be very sore the next several days. The same thing could happen with these shoes. It is rare, but every now and then someone pays the price for overdoing it. Start out wearing these shoes for an hour (or two) the first couple of days. Slowly increase the amount of time you wear them.

After a couple of weeks you would be able to wear them all day. If you are responsible, you will shoes will provide you will countless health benefits.

The day I purchased a pair of Tone Ups sandals I was so comfortable in them that I wore them out of the store. I wore them all day and felt great. The next day I could not get out of bed as my back was so bad! It is now nine days later and I am still recovering. I will never put these shoes on again. I think that any shoe that changes the way you walk should come with a warning to wear them only very briefly at first and to build up to wearing them to a longer time. I am done with all kinds of "shaping"and "toning" shoes forever!
