Comfort Shoes, Earth Shoes, feature 4, Fitness Shoes, MBT Shoes, Rocker Bottom Shoes, Walking Shoes - By Chris Tarvey on Thursday, March 25, 2010 - 23:25

The MBT Company and the Earth Company are both pretty amazing companies that are intensely committed to the philosophies, their technologies, and their products.  That said, they are two very different companies who make very different shoes – in design, style, fit, technology, and mechanics.

Finding MBT or Earth Shoes

If you are looking into purchasing either product and want more information on either, I list two great places to purchase them at the end of this review.  They each have an awesome selection and really competitive  prices.  And right now Earth Shoes are clearance priced starting at just $24.95 while they last See details below...

Earth Shoes Are Different

Technology

  • Kalso Negative Heel Technology.  This is an inclined sole that raises your toes 3.7 degrees higher than your heels. The sole has a soft, cushioned, and supportive wedge at the front of the shoe on the bottom.
  • Anatomical Arch Support.  The arch support provided simulates the natural shape of your foot as well as giving proper positioning – to accommodate high or low arches, for example.
  • BioFoam Cushioning – The footbed of all Earth footwear is made from a cushion that conforms to the shape of your foot.  It also offers great shock absorption. Earth Shoes Vs. MBT Shoes

MBT and Earth Footwear Side by Side

  • Both have a great, fresh, urban, trendy look to them.
  • Varied styles and designs for men and women.
  • Both take time to get used to.
  • Both have research to support their claims.
  • Both do work.

The technology of the two shoes is very different.  So which is better, the wedge or the curve?  I think that both shoes work very well.  Here’s what is seems to boil down to – for me.

Earth shoes are for you if you:

  • want a more traditional sneaker.
  • are very committed to environmentally conscious manufacturing and materials.

MBT Shoes are for you if you:

  • want to generate a more full-body workout
  • are looking for the greatest number of health benefits – especially to chronic pain patients
  • are a chronic pain patients or are looking to alleviate specific symptoms (joint aches, back, pain, plantar fasciitis, etc.)

I think the MBT offers more health benefits, but they both are great shoes in terms of providing more benefits to your body than any traditional shoe.  Shoes.com carries both shoes.  They have the largest selection of Earth shoes.  Footwear etc. has the largest selection of MBT Shoes.

Special Notice: Right now they are having a sale on ALL Discontinued MBT Shoes.  There are 65 styles on sale for $119 while they last.  Currently they are available in all sizes, but they are selling fast.  They are by far the largest retailer of MBT Shoes, so once these shoes are sold, they will be gone forever.  Click the link above to buy a pair of authentic MBT Shoes are the lowest prices you will find.

Ed Forteau, I hope that you enjoy your earth shoes as much as I enjoy mine. My age is 76 years - only my Earth Shoes are truly comfortable. And no one want to watch me balance in my MBT's.

I bought two pair of MBT shoes. Even after frequent wearing of the MBT shoes, if I go back to the Earth Shoes, I feel more stretching with the Earth Shoes. I gave away the MBT's, and the Chug She are going soon! I figure that I have been wearing the Earth Shoes about thirty years.

My wife has commented over the years that when her 38 year old daughter was born, that her knees always hurt - from that point on. Then came a day when she wanted to try on a new Earth Shoe - the "Mary Jane" by Earth Shoes. The Salesman tried to talk her out of that. "Oh, you will not like them." But she prevailed, was amazed that when she first stood up in the Mary Jane's, her knees and back stopped hurting right away. She and I are sold on Earth Shoes! I have tried two pair of MBT and a pair of Chung She. Nothing will replace my Earth Shoes! I love em!!

I have that same problem with shoes that have too high of an arch support. It digs into my arch and makes it hurt. So the solution I came up with for existing shoes is that I pulled out the shoe liner and literally cut out the arch part and inserted the shoe liner back into the shoe. Worked great.

I think most of the writers on this site prefer MBTs. Earth are great shoes, just a different concept. Again, thanks for your comments.

Thanks for your comment. Sounds like you are a Real MBT Shoe Fan. I buy a lot of shoes, and MBTs are one of my favorites also. I do like my Earth shoes, but because I have flat feet the high arches give me a problem when I wear them for long distances. I do like them for running around.

I own 7 pairs of MBT's and at least 3 pairs of Earth Shoes. Hands down my vote is for MBT. I have to remember this myself when I see a cute Earth Shoe style and then remember they just don't give my posture that special lift let alone often I can't break them in or they just never quite fit right. I should sell the Earth Shoes as they just sit around in closet while the MBT's are on my feet making me a happy camper. That's a literal happy camper as I take them camping. The boots are the best and hope they bring them back soon. I'm getting one pair re-soled while my spare pair of boots are put into action.

As a mature man I find that I don't seem to give those looks a second glance anymore but really appreciate and find attractive the woman that can put herself together well whether casual or sophisticated and carries herself with class and confidence, as you do. Well done, like it a lot.

They had sales on both shoes, so I purchase a pair of each.  I already owned a pair of MBTs, so this is my second pair.  I've also been curious about Earth shoes.  Couldn't beet the price anywhere, so buying a pair was an easy decision.

The only problem I have is my arches are low, and the Earth shoes are designed for higher arches.  They feel great for shorter walks (30 - 60 minutes), but because the arch support is so high they take some getting use to as all day shoes.  A pair of quality inserts should fix the problem.  I like them, and I do think people with normal to high arches will love them.

Both shoes are great.  I also just bought a couple pair on sale.  Two pair of Earth shoes for under $70.  That is crazy cheap.

I'm a MBT guy, but I have wanted a pair of Earth Shoes for a while.  At those prices I didn't put if off any longer and bought a pair.  Great article.  Thanks for the heads up on the sale!
