Birkenstock Shoes – For Those of Us Who Want to Wear our Birks in the Winter Too!

Comfort Shoes, Walking Shoes - By Jackie Burns on Monday, January 9, 2012 - 02:14

I have been wearing Birkenstock clogs for years, and I love them.  They are comfortable, offer great support, and withstand all of the outdoor activity that I enjoy.  There has only ever been one problem.

I live where it snows.  I do know some real diehards who wear their Birk clogs in the snow, but, alas, I am not one of them.  I want some protection from the elements.  The Birkenstock shoes collection (not sandals or clogs) are perfect for this.  They have all of the features of traditional Birkenstock clogs and sandals – and more.  You know, like a heel.

Getting Your Timeless Birkenstock Today

Because of their popularity, there are a lot of retailers who sell Birkenstock shoes.  But I have found that none offer the range of selection and reasonable prices that ShoeBuy.com does.  Birkenstocks are not inexpensive shoes – they are well worth the price, of course – but you do not want to buy from a retailer that is going to make up the prices.  They also really knows about shoes.  They can get you the perfect pair of Birkenstock shoes – size, style, color, and price!  Shop around if you want, but I have and I just found imitation shoes.  That’s why I continue to go back ShoeBuy.com – I get the shoes I want at prices that let me get more than one pair!

Birkenstock Shoes: A Natural Step from the Clog

Birkenstock shoes will appeal to everyone who loves the Birkenstock clogs and sandals.  They really take advantage of the enduring style and unique look that has made Birkenstocks popular for so long.

But…I think that Birkenstock shoes will appeal to people that aren’t big fans of their clogs – like my husband.  He is not a clog wearer, and he has never understood why everyone loves them so much.  However, he loves his Birkenstock Londons.  He likes the comfort and quality (of course), but he also really likes the look of them.  Despite their “earthy” reputation, they fit perfectly into his hip, urban wardrobe.

A style that is lasting and fresh at the same time, here are the five shoe styles:

The Alabama (men & women) – A traditional lace-up with all of the Birkenstock comfort and style

The Devon (men &women) – A sportier, more outdoorsy lace-up with rugged traction sole

The London (men &women) – A slip-on with that Birkenstock buckle –  looks like the slip-on version of traditional Birkenstock clog

The Harrison (men &women) – a rugged lace-up for outdoors activity

The Paris (women only) – a Mary Jane style shoe with the traditional buckle

Birkenstock Shoes Basics

Comfort – There are three choices to find the perfect comfort for your foot and lifestyle.  The Birkenstock Footbed has natural contours, a toe bar, and deep heel cup for the perfect balance of comfort and soothing with each step.

Benefits
– Generations of families wear Birkenstocks, and it is not (trust me) because they all have the same style.  It is because there are a lot of benefits to wearing Birkenstock shoes.

  • Improved posture & balance
  • Even weight distribution
  • Decreased pressure on pressure hotspots
  • Arch support

Excellence – You may not know that Birkenstock has been making shoes for over 230 years!  Beginning in Germany and now in the US, this company manufactures only top quality products – using the best materials, technology, and designs.

Fit & Sizing – Fit for Birkenstocks is very standard.  The shoes are cut generously to allow ample room for proper fit and comfort – allowing the right amount of movement of your foot while providing excellent support.  Do keep in mind the arch support is high, so if you have flat feet, Birkenstocks may not be the best choice for you.

Care – With proper care and treatment of the leather of the shoes, your Birkenstocks will last several seasons (or more) and any activity that you can step foot in.

Birkenstock Shoes: The Bottom Line

The shoe collections from Birkenstock are every bit as comfortable and durable as the clogs that everyone knows.  They have the same distinct style features (that buckle and suede leather) as well the comfort, fit, and support that you want from Birkenstock.  I got both the London and the Alabama from ShoeBuy.com.  I love both pairs and wear them in the spring, fall, and winter.  Birkenstock shoes are definitely worth a look if you haven’t yet.
